AFRIGETICS BOTANICALS & HERBAL EXTRACTS

The herbs we use are all sustainably harvested without diminishing natural wild populations. We don’t trade any of the rare barks or endangered species from the wild (the two rare species that we do trade are organically cultivated from wild seed – Hoodia and Sceletium).

LICENSED

Our trade is monitored by Cape Nature conservation authorities and we have a license to sell these species. Afrigetics is also a licensed collaborator under a bio-prospecting permit.

BENEFIT SHARING

The communities in rural areas that supply our herbs are given a portion of profit through a government approved benefit sharing agreement signed by our processing partner. We have a separate agreement with the South African San Council that sees a share of our sales go to their officially sanctioned organization for community development.

STANDARDIZED QUALITY CONTROL

Our herbs are made to exacting standards and we have gone to great lengths to standardize them for the active ingredients that make them effective herbal medicines. They are tested by the University of Stellenbosch and University of the Western Cape to determine that these active ingredients are present. Some of our products are even freeze-dried to ensure optimum ingredient preservation of medicinal properties that may be susceptible to heat.

VEGAN FRIENDLY

The Afrigetics range is suitable for conscious consumers – no animal products are used and all herbs are packed into vegetable cellulose capsules. Our herbal extracts also do not contain any solvents such as alcohol or ethanol so they are completely suitable for Halaal purposes.
